If you are looking for a yummy, light pudding dessert – you are going to love our striped delight! This layered pudding dessert combines 4 layers: pudding, cream cheese layer, graham cracker layer, and whipped topping layer. You’ve got to try this easy-to-make 4 layer delight dessert recipe!
This was always one of my favorite dessert recipes my mom made growing up. The bad thing was that she only made it when we had company. I don’t know why, this four layer delight is super simple to whip up, plus light and satisfying no matter what the main dish. My kids love this pudding dessert too. Sometimes we use vanilla pudding (like in the pictures), but other times we mix it up with a chocolate pudding layer, strawberry pudding, lemon pudding, white chocolate pudding, or whatever else we happen to have on hand. Either way, this striped delight dessert is super pretty, easy-to-make, and delicious!
All you need to whip up this family favorite dessert recipe are a few simple ingredients:
Start by making the crust. You can make your own graham cracker crumbs by pulsing graham crackers in a food processor. Then combine graham cracker crumbs, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/3 cup melted butter.
HINT: I usually make the crumbs and combine sugar, crumbs, and butter all in the food processor. It makes quick work of it and saves bowels!
Press the crumb mixture firmly in the bottom of a 9×13 baking pan.
I wash out the food processor and beat the 8 ounces of cream cheese with 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 Tabolespoons of milk until smooth. Fold about 1/2 of 4 ounce container of whipped topping (Cool Whip, Tru Whip, or home whipped sweetend whipping cream).
Carefully spread the cream cheese mixture over the graham crust with a spatula.
Whisk together 3 cups of cold milk and 4-serving pudding mix until it starts to thicken.
Pour pudding over cream cheese layer and spread to make it an even layer.
Chill the first three layers several hours. Now spread the remaining 4 ounes whipped topping (or more if you want) over the pudding layer.
Keep covered in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve the pudding dessert.
When you are ready to serve, remove the foil covering and garnish with nuts or chocolate.
Use a serving utensil to cut and serve slices of this pretty layered dessert.
This yummy dessert plates so beautifully!
Guests constantly rave about how yummy, light, and non-heavy this dessert is. It pairs well with everything!
Plus it is so handy you can make this ahead, even a day or two, and it stays fresh as the day you made it!
I love how it can easily be tweaked depending on what mood you are in. Make it a milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate layered desert if you are in the mood. Of enjoy the tangy and sweet combination of using strawberry or lemon pudding. No matter how you change the layers – it is absolutely delicious and satisfying!
