When I discovered I could make small servings of drop biscuits in the microwave, it was a great day. They’re so perfect for a late night snack or when I wake up craving a breakfast biscuit (and am trying to avoid hitting a drive thru)!

It might be something you’ve asked yourself before and it’s a good question. You can definitely bake and reheat biscuits in the microwave. If you’re craving the taste of a homemade biscuit, it’s a quick way to whip up a batch.
The truth is that not all biscuits microwave well. It depends on the type of biscuits you want to microwave.
Can you cook Pillsbury biscuits in the microwave?
The short answer is that you can. They will be cooked but they won’t brown up like you have probably come to expect from Pillsbury biscuits. But you can start them in the microwave and then use another appliance to get that golden brown color.
Otherwise conventional ovens really will give you the best result if you’re wanting that golden color you’re familiar with.
Can you microwave frozen biscuits?
Frozen biscuits can be reheated in the microwave oven. It’s best to do them one at a time. Wrap them in a damp paper towel to prevent the biscuit from drying out.
Can you microwave raw biscuits?
Homemade raw biscuits (like this recipe) can be cooked in the microwave. The biscuits should rise up and be fairly fluffy, though they won’t brown.
If you get store-bought raw biscuits, I highly recommend following the directions on the packaging. If microwave is not a recommended cooking method, I would not use it.
My advice is to check the packaging of the biscuits you have and see if there are directions for using the microwave. Otherwise, stick to making and microwaving your own!

This recipe makes 6 biscuits. It takes about 5 minutes to prepare and less than 3 minutes to bake in the microwave!
Empty the dry ingredients from the biscuit mix into a mixing bowl.
Stir in the water until the mixture forms a sticky dough.
Use a spoon to fill six cupcake liners 2/3 full with biscuit dough. Place the liners in a microwave safe dish.
Microwave for 2 minutes 30 seconds.
Serve immediately. You can brush with melted butter or use your favorite topping.
These biscuits are best when served right away! They can get a bit chewy as they cool down. So serve them warm from the microwave!
I highly recommend eating these warm from the oven. But if you have leftovers, you can store them at room temperature in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
You can also store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container for about a week.
I don’t recommend putting leftover biscuits in the freezer.
